Brackley Community Carnival Goes Limited

Media Release : 15.01.08

The organisers of Brackley Community Carnival have formed a company to run the annual event. Brackley Community Events Limited has been set up with trustees rather than shareholders so that all profits are retained within the company. Richard Davison, Trustee and Chairman of Carnival 2008, explained further;

"Although the Carnival was originally a sub-committee of Brackley Town Council it has grown so quickly that a dedicated company is now needed to organise it. The Carnival is the biggest one-day event in Brackley and that involves months of planning, booking top-flight professional entertainers, hiring in services, accounting for fairly considerable sums of money and many things that are best served by a private company.

While the Carnival needs to be run as a business we wanted to keep it as a voluntary community organisation and so we set up a company limited by guarantee with trustees. This ensures that no-one gets paid and any profits go where they should, back into the Carnival and other events in Brackley. In addition to the Carnival we also organise the Continental markets that visit Brackley and the Christmas Parade for the carol singing. We have plans for other events including a Food Fair this year so watch out for further details soon".
