Events of the day The theme for this year's event is 'It's Showtime'. The day will start with the Carnival Procession which travels along Brackley High Street from Brackley Sawmills. The Procession will be led by Banbury's Town Crier Anthony Church and our new Mayor, Cllr Caryl Billingham. Amoungst the Procession will be walking and motorised floats, Milton Keynes Pipe Band and Dancers and The Army Cadets Corps of Drums and Banbury ATC Band will provide you with some rythm as the procession proceeds along the route and there will be a special apperance by our new local radio station Banbury Sound. The Procession will leave the Sawmills at 11am and reach Magdalen College St John's Site at approximately 11.45am.The gates open at 12 noon. We have lot's of things booked for the day. We have brought back Knockout Challenge as so many of you wanted to take part again and there are many different act's booked for adults and children to watch and take part in (see below). The Six-a-Side Football Competition and the Car Pull have also been arranged again for this year. We have the Community Arena again, which gives the chance to local groups to promote themselves and demonstrate what they do. This year so far we have Starlight Dance Academy, Sylvie Essame School of Dance, Step By Step Dance School, Brackley Community Association, Banbury ATC Band, The Army Cadets Corps of Drums, Delapre Majorettes and Moylan Dance School. The Fun Fair, the Dog Show, Quad Bikes, and Bouncy Castles will all be back along with the Commercial and Charity Stalls. We hope you will come along and support the day and enjoy the fun in the sun! Charlie the Clown ![]() Charlie the Clown is energetic, enthusiastic,and zany. He does magic,juggling,comedy mind reading and tells terrible jokes.He also has some potty puppets.Come along and meet him on Carnival Day, he is somebody, everyone will love! Eagle Heights & Vulture Display Team ![]() The Eagle Heights and Vulture Display Team are from Kent.The team offers one of the most comprehensive Bird of Prey Displays in the UK. Watch your heads as 'Jade' the Falcon flies at 120mph across the top of your head and 'Kayla' the Bald Eagle soar in the sky. Meet 'Posh & Becks', the White-backed Vultures as they gallop across the arena. Also making an apperance will be an Eagle Owl & a little Barn Owl. All the birds will be on display when they are not in the arena. Rockwood Dog Display Team ![]() Martin Winfield and the team from the 'Rockwood Dog Display Team' have made many appearances on National TV and at many events across the country. All the dogs are family pets and live at home with thier owners. Many of the dogs have also appeared in films with some of Britains top actor's. The team shows the audience everything from basic dog training, to apprehending an armed criminal and also doing special stunts with fire. Children will have the chance to take part in this arena event by doing a human long jump. The audience will also have the chance to participate when at the end of the show there will be an exciting agilty race. Mr Alexander's Travelling Show ![]() Mr Alexander's colourful family show has travelled all over the UK. He does magic, juggling unicycling and acroblance. Look out for his death-defying balancing act on folding chairs! Sir Lupin of Pipwithers ![]() Sir Lupin of Piwithers is a medieval stiltwalker with a difference. He is a Knight who has lost his horse and so he must be carried on the heads of his quietly muttering peasents. Watch out for him wondering around our event. Entrance to the 2009 Carnival is £3.00 per adult before the day and £4.00 on the day, under 16's are free. Wristbands for entrance will be availble from local schools and organisations, the Town Hall and at the Soap Box Derby on Sunday 7th June. |
